I would pass on either truck. With gas prices high, you can find a truck in our generation for 1500 in great shape. When it's all said and done those trucks will cost that much also.

If your looking for the off road rig I would go with the highboy. They're stout trucks, easy to work on, and cheap to fix when they break. If you just want a badass toy go with the diesel. There's lots of upgrades for them, they're extremely reliable when built and maintained right, and hell who doesn't love a big bad diesel

diesels make awesome crawlers because they can make the torque to turn big tires up the rock. I'd go for the powerstroke because it cant be beat.

This is the only time I would ever recommend a chevy... parts are cheap and I personally have no respect for chevy pickups and therefore would not feel guilty to bounce it off a couple trees out in the woods

Yes it is a powerchoke which makes it more expensive to fix but way more upgrades are available.

As far as time goes, I really don't have much of it as I am a highschool student peparing to go to a military academy. It would have to be a weekend project till around July or August.

Probably would only have time to do little things until late summer...

I'm leaning towards the highboy because it could be a SAS for my f150 but as far as a bug out vehicle, diesel trucks can almost run on anything LOL but still browsing and thinking.

I really appreciate all the opinions!,

What is a "bug out" truck?
