Default Odometer Rollover at 400,000

I originally assumed that the digital odometers (PSOM) would go up to 999 thousand but....

I've talked to a few guys and read a couple of posts on line where guys from the US with miles per hour said that when their odometer hit 500,000 it rolled back to 400,000.
And in Canada where speed is measured in kilometers at least 3 people have told me that when the odometer hit 400,000, it rolled back to 300,000.
Anybody had experience with this ? It would be interesting to see what other people have experienced.

I had a neighbour with a 7.3 with just over 300,000 when he bought it. He had a lot of issues with it and I later found it had rolled back to 300 multiple times (I'm from canada).

I can say for sure my 02 a 4.6 went 647000 km & was going strong then I traded it in....have 2 friends (both 4.2 engines) 1st a 97 it was around 900,000 something & he parked it....2nd is still running with 1mill + 200-300 000 on it with a used engine put in maybe 3-4 months ago....neither have said they had any issues with odometers resetting or having to be reset @ 9999999...

Nope I wouldn't say babied @ all (not abused though) we are in the pilot car business so sometimes we both got oil changes between 1-3 weeks apart only real diff. he kept his longer before he retired it to his wife..His may have got a semi Synthetic oil I believe, mine I just changed whenever wherever usually @ Walmart's or CTC ...that 99 with my other buddy did the same job & he just changed his motor (used) a few months ago although he doesn't work everyday now!! (semi retired)

Well maybe only so much....my buddy with 99 S/Cab 1.3 million km (no big wrenches to repairs for engine)......finally it broke completely so he approached his dealer to contact Ford to see if any monies/parts @ cost etc. could possibly come his way to repair this engine as it had lasted well beyond belief !!
Answer was nice story ....but no monies though!! So he bought a used engine & is still driving it!!

thats the way to go, engines die and that's when you swap in a big block.

Hello back from Canada !!
Nice little truck you've got there.
Don't know that it has anything to do with odometers that roll over, but it's a nice looking little Bronco.
Very nice shape.
