Default Newly Acuired 88 F-150

Im new to the forum andjust looking around trucks look great guys.

Well im soon to be getting a 88 or 89 f150 5spd I6 2wd
My question is what is availible for these trucks i can weld, cut, grind, air tools in abundance, and lift in the basement.

1. What are my options for front seats as far as changing bench seat to individual seats?
2. Options for tires? it already has american racing wheels.
3. Tune up? Plugs wires rotor or what?
4. Want to convert to 4wd. What is needed to do this? t-case front end drive shafts.....?
5. Tool box or anything else.

Im looking to have this truck as a secound car for fun or what everand to keep running good.

Default 88 fix up ideas

Hello Cain, I have an 88 that is rapidly improving with repairs and upgrades. Two things i can answer is DeeZee makes a nice toolbox for the bed, I got a black flush-style one. After visiting some U-pick-it yards I see the factory optional buckets and console are an easy bolt-in swap.

you dont even eant to start to change that thing into 4wd by time you get done with it with your money and your time you coulda bought a decent 4wd truck. 2wd and 4wd frames are set up different. there is alot of metal fab to do. you can do what i did with my 93 i put 31's all the way around my truck the backs are hankook dynamic mud tires and the fronts are bfg all terrain. i have 275lbs of sand in the back of mine. and im going places in my truck that some of my buddies cant. i went through a pond 3 weeks ago the mud was probably 2 to 2 1/2 ft deep my truck went through it like a champ.

The '88 has the IFS stuff. It's pretty much a bolt on deal for the swap.

1. Bronco buckets bolt right in, should be easy to find in decent shape.
2. You can put up to 31" and some 32" tires with stock ride height
3. Doing plugs/wires/cap/rotor is always a good idea. Oil / filter change. Maybe running a can of Seafoam or Chemtool through.
4. Get a complete 4x4 donor truck, or even better, sell the 2WD and get a 4x4

Good luck with the project man. I own a 1989 F150 Lariat with the I6 and 5speed as well, but mine is a 4x4.

1. Broncos have buckets and they are almost the same truck. Some fabrication may still be required.
2. Are you asking what size will fit or what brand we like?
3. A tune up is always a good idea.
4. Transmission, transfer case, both driveshafts, shifter, crossmember, front axle.
5. What about a tool box? Sure, I'll bet one will fit back there.
