new muffler for my 4.9
I decided to get a thrush welded muffler, it was cheap and i heard they are a copy of a flowmaster 40. I am going in about an hour to get it put on...maybe my truck will have that deep tone im looking for. Anyone else use these before?
I am going to try and upload a video/sound clip later.

ok well i got the muffler put on and there is very little to no sound difference...Its a brand new muffler, is it true you have to let the break in? I also have a manifold leak really bad where the bolts have loosened over time, but they are so rusted that they cant be tightened or else they will break off. What can i do to fix this?

the 4.9 doesnt really have much going for it in the sound dept., and a fully welded muffler has no break in time. glasspack mufflers with fiberglass stuffing has break in time... but maybe you have no sound difference because your catalytic convertors are plugged? if you do a full exhaust with headers/hi flow cat/your muffler, you'll get a little roar out of her.
