Hi all,
Thought I would pop in here since it has been a very long time since I was on forums for trucks. Currently I have two regular cab 1/2 tons. A 1992 longbed 4.9 4x4 and a 96 shortbox 5.0...both 5 speeds. Recently I found a 94 up in LA and I bought it to part out the smog legal vortech supercharger on it. The truck had 185k on it and the supercharger is from the year 2000 or 2001. I almost adopted the 94, but I went ahead and sent it down the road for $1500. Got the 96 running pretty well on the vortech (already put a smaller wheel on it)...Have plans for tuning, shorty headers, maybe heads and cam if I can get another longblock project started.

anyhow pics...

and the 92- all stock

Nice looking trucks! The Vortech looks good too.

Here is how the installation looks with the radiator shroud and fan still removed: Special cast bracket to relocate the a/c and p/s is one of the items no longer available from Vortech anymore...that and the double throttle body discharge tube. Luckily they are still selling and rebuilding the compressors.

@mike100 What kind of performance gains did you see by adding this supercharger? What was the cost?

The 6 psi pulley is estimated to be 270-ish hp on a 302, but that is based on the 185 hp speed density version of the 5.0 with the smaller cam. I would say it is around 300hp with the 8 psi pulley and a maf 94-96 truck with the bigger factory HO roller cam. They don't sell them anymore..like probably haven't for about 10 years, but it was more than $3500...I have seen an old listing showing out of stock for $3800. I bought an entire truck on new year's day in Los Angeles to get this kit. I knew I had to have it as soon as I saw the craigslist ad less than 2 hours away.

Been busy making this vortech supercharger installation run right. Bought the Core Tuning strategy and Binary Editor license... the Mongoose flash cord, a wideband was installed in the non-obd2 o2 sensor location, an 80mm Lincoln MAF, and I went through two set of injectors (24lb and 30lb) trying to satisfy this thing. I now am running without the FMU regulator. Additionally, I went ahead and got JBA shorty headers that are smog legal. In the near future, I would like to do GT-40 heads with perhaps 1.7 rocker arms to get a few hundred more rpms on the powerband.
