Default Tranny swap F-150 - Bronco

I am in process of installing a tranny from a full size 1991 Bronco 5.0 (e4od) 4X4 to my 1993 F-150 6 cyl (e4od) 4X4. I was advised it would not be a problem, other than a slight stall speed RPM difference.
Right off the bat, I see the shift hardware is different. Mine has a cable operating the shift lever on the tranny and the Bronco had a metal rod. Can I just drop the pans and switch these controls out or am I opening a can of worms?

Thank you for your reply to my inquiry. However, my "mechanic" already torched the rods from the Bronco linkage set, when he took the tranny out. Guess he has a "messy" job now. 15 degree high today and we are doing this in my parking lot (upstate NY), he's gonna be hating life today!!

If I can help anyone else out around here... I have the rest of this 91 full size Bronco 4X4, for parts. No motor, tranny or tires/wheels. Only rust is on lower back tailgate door and above the rear fender wells. Doors, front fenders, hood, grill, bumbers, interior, xfer case, front end, rear end, glass... all good! I also have the e4od tranny from the 93 f-150 4X4, but it needs rebuild... has no forward and limited reverse.
