I got them because my 03 had the original motorcrafts on the front with almost 255,000 miles on them and they were shot but they weren't blown. The Flareside I have has some aftermarket ones on it all the way around and EVERY one of them are blown out. Well.. All 3 someone decided to take one of them.

What does it mean that they are blown out and how do you tell if yours are?

Bad is where they bounce more than 3 to 5 times before coming back to a full stop.
Blown is when the seals leak fluid out of the shock and it can settle/not stop the bounce

Hope this helps

Do you think Ford has their own shock factory? Or are they made by KBY, Bilstein or some other shock producer. Made to Ford specs. and put into a Motorcraft box?

The bearing factory i worked at would do this. We would make bearings for other company's then we would put the bearings into their boxes

Oh they're definitely made by another company to Ford specs. I think that's the difference though, Ford specs.

I have a 96 F150 Inline6 2wd 5speed. I replaced my shocks a few months ago. I did my research and didn't want to buy shocks from my local auto part store I wanted something a little better and not too expensive. I ended up buying, Bilstein 5100 shocks. I did notice a big difference.
The old shocks I replaced were blown/done!! I could push them down by hand and wouldn't come up at all and leaking fluid. Thats how you know you have bad shocks!
