I have put a new fuel pump in and changed the fuel filter, but I'm still not getting fuel to the enigine. I am getting a spark and the engine will turn over with starter fluid. I have duel tanks with a single fuel filter. Straight 6... 4.9, 300. Not sure what to try next....Can someone please help!!!

year of truck would be nice.

second turn the key on just on dont start it. with the door open and your ear to the back you should hear the pump kick on for a few seconds. if not have you had the dash apart where the tank switch is? if so did you plug the conector back in?

Sorry its a '93. Yes we tried checking the switch too and everything seemed ok with it. We can hear the pumps priming themselves and trying to push fuel but we are getting nothing. We also tried disconnecting the fuel line at the filter and turned it over. We were thinking gas should have shot out but we got nothing there. Again seems that the pumps are active. I've been told by a couple friend to blow air into the line from the filter back to the tank, that maybe it would unclog something if it was clogged. Seems to me that something is...

Do not blow it back into the tank. That is stupid. Take the bed of the truck off, it is not that hard really, check the fuel pumps and blow the lines out if you have to. Never ever blow fuel lines back into the gas tank.

I had about 4 of these truck over the years. Fuel pumps are horrible for them... SO here we go, first you say you here the pump running does it shut off after about 5 to 10 seconds? If not then your fuel pickup is not picking anything up to build pressure to tell the pump to shut down its pressureized. 2 unhook fuel lines at the tank switch and see if you have fuel at the tank switch. If yes go to 3, check to see if you have fuel pressure at teh pressure regulator. If yes then start to check are injectors all firing.. If it is a fuel issue this should help guide you... Also do you have fuel line leaking anywhere?

The pumps do not turn off from the system being pressurized the ECM has a built in timer that cut off the pumps after it times out. You said you have no fuel at the filter so you won't have any at the regulator either.
You did pull the fuel line loose from the tank side of the filter when you did the fuel check , and the filter was put on with the flow arrow toward the motor?
A 93 won't have a tank switch just a check valve in each pump and a selector switch on the dash. If you put a new pump and filter on then still have no fuel it more than likely something in the tank.
Also some people hook up the pump and test it before they put them in, running one dry is the worst thing you can do to a pump it only takes a minute or so to burn one up.
