Need help with electric door locks & wiring
Okay, I might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to electrical problems, but even I know that when you press UNLOCK on the driver's side, the passenger side shouldn't LOCK... and vice versa!
My '91 F-150 was purchased with inop electric door locks. My wife and I (she's the electronics expert courtesy of USCG) dismantled the doors and replaced the actuators on both sides - originals were rusted up pretty good.
After the actuators were installed, the driver's door switch (windows, locks) remained inop but the passenger side door lock switch would UNLOCK only.
She cleaned both door switches and checked continuity of all wires running from door-to-door, all checked out (black/orange and pink/green) with the pink/green showing open.
Tried running a jumper from pink/green on left to right doors to see if perhaps there was a short or break in the wire, found that by doing so, the passenger door LOCKED at the same time the driver's door UNLOCKED. At least now both lock switches work, but both do the same thing... passenger locks, driver's unlocks.
Anybody have any ideas? This one is pulling our collective hair out... and as for me, I can't afford to lose any more! Appreciate any feedback!
