Good luck building a race truck with a 10' bed for $3k. I'd find a short bed, or if you're handy with a torch and welder, chop it down. I'm guessing that's a flatbed since the factory only made them with 6.5' and 8' beds. That's gonna screw you from the get go with that much added weight.

Unless that's a typo, in which case you'd probably benefit from a mild budget rebuild with a hotter cam, some GT40p heads and long tube headers.

With your budget the only way your going to go fast is nitrous. Then your going to screw your engine up if you use it all the time and too big of a shot. Besides, with a small budget of 3k, you def weigh way too much to have anything effective even with gutting it out.

for 3k your not going to be able to do much other then swap out the rear end with a different gear ratio to get a bit more acceleration out of it. mabye lower it down a bit for handling sake. and I second the Nitrous you can get 100 extra hp but your going to blow something out on a stock engine. it would be good to know what engine it is too. if its the I6 300 six you might want to do a 351 swap thats all i got for under 3k. its a good start but Making a race truck aint cheap
Im pretty sure you could find a ford lighting engine in a junk yard for 3k theres one around here for 1800. thats the whole truck but the frames toast.

I'm in the (messy) process of sourcing miscellaneous turbo parts for my 7.5L.

Backup is adding a Banks Methanol-Water Injection Sys (approx $1000) which they claim adds 113-175 BHP without tuning..............I don't believe they're selling all that well because the sales staff in CA has been pestering me for weeks.........

I think the turbo (if I can get the right parts) will outperform the Banks System...........
