Need 1994 XL AC help!
The AC Clutch does not engage. So far I have:
Checked and there is no voltage at the compressor plug Jumped low pressure Jumped High Pressure Metered AC switch voltage good in AC & max AC positions checked Vacuum and input voltage and ground at MAP, I did not check output Removed connector from temp sensor Cleared codes, ran truck, pulled codes again and I only get a 327 EGR low code. Connected 12 volt direct to compressor and clutch engages I cleaned all connectors with contact cleaner when I removed them. Any Ideas of what to do now will be great, It's hot here in Fl and is raining everyday |
I'm very interested in the solution to this, I have this same exact problem with an explorer I just got (95 4.0), no voltage at compressor plug, voltage at switch, clutch won't engage, only code it's throwing is 327.

Sounds like you answered your own question, if it's not getting power to the clutch and the clutch engages when you hook up 12 volts to it. Sounds like bad/corroded connection or wiring maybe a open/short circuit.

Get a test light and start tracing wiring. Start at the control unit and probe the wires from there to see where the power stops.

I assumed mine was wiring but when I saw that he had 327 (low volt EGR) I thought maybe there was something more in depth. Maybe they use the same wiring route and something has damaged the group of wires?

Ended up going with royal purple oil and a Mobil 1 oil filter. I went to pay at autozone and she said 10$. I paid it and took my happy ass home haha. Guess the cashier messed up lol

Get a toggle switch and run 12v straight to compressor to get you going, then all you can do is trace it out
