Default 88 Running Rough

1988 302 5.0 "My truck runs rough when in drive"

Purchased Truck and gave it a standard tune up. New filters, plugs, wires, oil change etc.

After a couple weeks I found the front tank had rust in it. So thinking not a big deal, bought new filters and ran several tanks of good gas through it. Bought filters again and ran more gas through it. Finally on my last trip and third set of filters I dropped the tank, found a clean used one and replaced it, along with the fuel pump and filters. Before doing so my truck started running real rough when in drive, back firing a little bit. When put in drive it stutters and shakes badly. Under the AC it gets worse,,,when in low gear high RPM in fires better.

So I checked the plugs along with the firing sequence. I bought a new rotor and cap. I checked the gas fuel pressure at the manifold 30-40 pounds depending on rpm. I can not tell if it is a firing issue or a fuel issue. Just writing this leads me to believe the dirty fuel finally clogged my injectors. Any help is greatly appreciated!

i had a similar problem in my old 1990 bronco. have you checked the IAC valve? take it off, spray it down with carb cleaner, clean it out good, and MAKE SURE IT DRIES before putting it back on and starting it up.

it may help, and if it doesnt...all it cost you was a 3 dollar can of carb spray, and 30 minutes of your life

IAC has been removed and is currently soaking in some B12. O'reillys tried to sell me on some SeaFoam Cleaner, I like Seafoam products but wasn't sure how to apply. Says it need to be inserted into the fresh air intake. Anyway. I will post once I get the IAC back online. Fingers crossed. Also looking for disconnect vacuum tubes. I truly hope I figure this out soon,,,Thanks
