max tire size and rim size
Hey all,
I've been looking for more beefy tires for the back. Now they have 265/60-15 tires (up front too) and i want to keep that size up front but want 17"in the back and as fat as i can get 'em. Now, what is the max. tiresize in width you can put without problems on a stock-hight f150 flareside and what size rims do you need to make that work (backspacing etc.)
(as i am a dutch i dont know all of the technical terms and te american tiresizes are also a bit confusing to me, so please beare with me with this)
Thanx in advance!!

actually you dont want to do that, if anything do the same tire size all the way around, you never want to do that, becuz it can throw something off, and ruin your truck, well that is what my dad told me

You mean 15" and 17"? or wider tires at the back?
And what do you mean by throwing something off?
I really do want this, maybe not 17" in the back per say, but at least really fat tires in the back...

Running wider in the back shouldn't hurt as long as you keep the same diameter tires all around. Larger diameter will shift your weight distribution putting more load on the front suspension. A few things to consider however is loss of mpg due to more surface area/rotational mass and most tire companies wont warranty your tires for tread life because you cant rotate them. Not rotating the tires greatly reduces the tread life and big tires can be big money. Are you drag racing the truck?

Springer Spaniels Rule
Watch the offset with wider rear tires, you can get 17" rims but you will probably have to go with 50 or 55 tires. 60-65 might be too tall with the 17" rims.

Thanx for the many responses!
I've seen that look on several tv shows, and i like the look. I dont race the car, i actually have it "for show/running project" and i drive less than 7500 mile p/y, so not too worried about the wear. But what size can i run?
If i do stay in 15" can i run 29 x 18R15 tires? saw them at summit and they are 17.6" wide!!! Or is that too much?
