Default manual t-case slow to shift into 2by

I have a 88 f150 5.0 auto, manual t-case, and when I put it in 4by, it shifts no problem, the problem is when I shift it from 4by in to 2by, it seems to take a bit to switch into 2by even though the lever is in the 2by spot, I am preaty sure that this is a t-case lincage problem, but I would like to get some opinions before I jump to conclusions.

I am keeping my hubs locked all winter, it's the t-case that is having the slow shifting from 4by to 2by when I move the lever, when I switch the t-case to 2by, I can hit the gas right after I switch it and it takes off because the t-case doesnt shift into 2by right away and is still sending power to the front tires for a little bit, it will shift into 2by, it just doesnt shift right away like it should.

When you shift from 4x4 to 2wd you should always back up a couple feet to let the transfercase disengage. Especially if your leaving the hubs locked. Sounds like your transfercase is just fine.

it would kinda **** people off if I were to stop and back up on a main road haha, when I am switching from 4by and 2by I am turning off of slick as snot side roads onto a main road, I am moving at 20+ mph on the main road, letting off the gas moving the t-case lever and pressing the gas again.

Ya and that's fine! And your t case will disengage as soon as the load comes off it.
Next time let off the gas shift it and put it in neutral while rolling then back to
Drive. I bet that will solve your problem.
