No. Yes it's the impossible task.
Are there any specific serials or letters or hints I should look for when trying to find a Cali '95 MAF ECU?

That I do not know but if you get a whole donor truck look at the engine label for California emissions '95.

I found these ebay listings and they say in the description if you read carefully:

California emissions...what do you think?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/250805246474...84.m1438.l2649
Part number:F3TF-12A650-NC
http://www.ebay.com/itm/220770024716...84.m1438.l2649
Part number:F3TF-12A650-TB

Whats the significance of the "NC" vs the "TB"?

Those say F250 350 450. F250s and above weren't held to the stricter emissions standards and therefore were not MAF. I think the ad is made misleading to get sales.

Gotcha, Ill keep my eyes open. The people who do this MAF swap make it seem like not a big deal, but of course they aren't converting a 4.9..

Converting a V8 isn't a big deal.

Thats what I am starting to learn.

And still, once I get the RIGHT parts it doesn't seem like it will be a big deal to convert a 4.9.

I think the biggest hurdle is finding the computer. I haven't researched the swap enough to know if it's true, but it has been said the only difference in the harness is the MAF sensor wires to the computer. V8 or I6. The sensor wires can be found and installed easily.

Yup, I may slap down the $250 for one of the Autozone ones that were mentioned before. I'm thinking I may call Ford too to see what they have to say.

There still has to be someone, somewhere that has a Cali '95 F150 that has needed to replace their ECU...

They could have had theirs reconditioned, one option for hard to find parts.

Thinking about it more, another wiring difference is the injectors. That's easy too though.
