Default m5od rebuild questions

To make a long story short I've been without a ford truck for way to long. Had an 09 Chevy Malibu. Was junk. Finally got rid of it and bought a 95 f150 4.9 5 speed 4x4. Love this truck 276,xxx miles and runs great.

The bad. Some of the gears grind when I shift. I'm assuming its the synchronizers because if I shift slowly it doesn't grind.

Yesterday the slave cylinder went and i had no clutch. Limped the next few miles home.

So the question is what all should i expect to do to make this trans solid again. Thanks

If you replace the master and slave cylinders your problem will most likely be fixed. But if you're looking for longevity I would rebuild the transmission with new bearings and synchros, new master and slave clutch cylinder, and new clutch and flywheel since you'll be in there anyway. Get your cylinders from a Ford dealership.

Got it pulled out of the truck yesterday. Definitely needs new synchros and bearings. You can move the input shaft pretty good. So now the question is can I rebuild it myself if I take my time stay organized or should I just pay to have it rebuilt?

You could probably get it done yourself if you have a service manual or something similar. I bought a rebuilt one from http://www.smartpartsauto.com/manual...5r2_mazda.html and it seems to be holding up. You can't beat their price.
