Default looking for a new transmission

I hope that I am in the right place. I have a 1989 F-150 Lariat XLT with a 302.. It came with a manual 5 speed tranny, I consider that to be a 4 speed with overdrive.. but first gear is to fast for what i do with is lots of mountain driving and there are lots of times i need to be able to crawl (not rock climbing) I want a trasnsmition that has a granny gear plus over drive. not sure where to start looking

I'm pretty sure you can have your 5 speed re-built with whatever gears you want in it.

I don't know what would be involved in the swap, but a ZF5 can be had with a 5.7 first gear. Not a Super low granny, but better than the 3.7 you probably have now.

Early GM NV4500s have a 6.32 first, buy nearly impossible to find and probably not an easy swap,if it's even possible.

That would be a far better choice than what i have now. i would like a 7 or even an 8 to 1 but 5 is in a step in the right direction.. thanks i will look into that

The 85's came with what you're looking for, maybe other years too, but my 85 had a granny 1st and overdrive.. Not sure exactly when they changed, but the 95 that I bought had the same transmission you have.
