Default Looking into my first 5.0

One of my neighbors (an older widowed lady) has a 95 ext cab 5.0 and it's in great shape, has 80k miles and one owner. Ive been talking to her and I think I'm gonna buy it from her. I've never had the 5.0 my truck now is a 4.9. I was just wondering if there were any tips or tricks or things I should know about the 5.0 before I invest in one.

Thanks

If it is properly maintained the 5.0 will last as long as any engine out there. If it is in good shape and has been maintained and the deal is right, buy it.

Your story is exactly how I came to own a 95 F150 5.0 XLT extended cab.

I know that the 5.0 vs. 4.9 is a question of what you bought, so you may be the key in stopping the inevitable war of F150 owners.

Its all about upkeep. If its that low mileage, and that old, how long has it sat? Thats the place to start. Mine sat for over 3 years undriven, and then only a few thousand miles since 2000. It started on the first try, but sputtered and stalled. She starts fine now after a bit of driving and basic upkeep.

As for the issues, it seems like the complaints are similar on both models. I only recently obtained my truck, so I have been doing a lot of reading in the last month about F150s, and that is my opinion of other peoples opinions.

[there is some comment about peoples opinions, and their value in there, but I have read quite a bit about these trucks]
