I wish mine was that easy. I had the tire iron through the eye bolt and had to yank pull and twist it for 2 hours to get it to move enough to drop my tire!

I have used many a spare on my truck. They don't last long because the strap that holds it up messes up the sidewall. Every spare I've used has blown out where the strap was touching the tire. I even used one from a Bronco mounted to the rear and it blew where the tire touched the bracket.

I can echo that, the spare on mine I thought would be ok, put it on and next morning it was 0psi flat. I just leave my spare in the bed, and doubt anyone is going to steal a junkyard 31

Haha that's why I have a non mounted Mickey Thompson in the bed, it's got a ****ed up bead on one side, but I leave that side down, so if it gets taken, I'll just laugh.

And my BFG A/T spare has a chunk of sidewall missing but holds air. Perfect for spare duty

Well I got the Round Master lock I mentioned in the beginning, and it fits great. Hopefully it will detour anyone that wants to steal my spare. It also seems to have just enough shackle exposed to prevent bolt cutters getting around it.

Thanks for the info regarding the spare's degradation. I'll keep that in mind. Do you think I could cover the metal with something else that would not degrade the rubber? like good ole cardboard?

I don't think that will help. I put cardboard on the fiberglass nose of my LeMans because the trailer ramps were rubbing it but they still messed it up after 1200 miles.

Ahh so this is the lug type? So it secures the tire to the cross arm? Thanks for the input, however I like having a visual deterrent.
