Very true, my friend! Every vehicle I have ever owned or been assigned has been given proper care and maintenance with excellent results. The first vehicle I ever bought was a 1985 Dodge Diplomat 318 with 80,000kms on the clock. Traded it in with 400,000kms. No breakdowns. Ran flawlessly for six years, and all I ever did was follow the maintenance schedule religiously.

Dodge Diplomats are one of my all time favorite cars , as stylish as a kenmore or maytag, and as indestructable as a tank .I owned two ex cop cars and they were awesome.

Somthing that always awazed me when I worked in autobody, is people who drive cars with almost no brakes , but will spend money on bodywork. I would have to throw reverse just to stop in the shop at least twice a week.

I noticed that too! There was an early 90's chevy 1500 with a 5 speed stick and I pushed in the clutch while in the shop and stood on the break and nope almost no breaks. Jammed it in reverse and slowly let the clutch grab till it came to a stop...

My favorite stories were of kids who bought Mustangs, Firebirds and Camaros from our boneyard "as is" section of the car lot. They'd spend hundreds on tint, stereos, and air fresheners, then bring them in for a safety and find out the cars needed everything fixed. Sad really. This is my diplomat.

Sounds vaguely like the old school hot rod shops. "Brake upgrades? We don't sell anything that makes it go slower."
