Default lift questions

Hi I have a 91 f150 and I have to replace the coil buckets so I was wondering if anybody had ever tried spacing them down an inch or two with square tubing under the frame ?

If you need new coil buckets, I would just get a bigger spring or put a leveling kit in since you will be right there anyway. Theoretically what your asking could be done but it would be much easier to buy bigger springs especially if the old springs are original. I believe Moog springs go for under 100 bucks and they will level your truck.

I have the moog springs already im just wanting to level it because I put f350 springs in back. I dont want lift spings because of to reasons (no money for them and I cant afford to lose load capacities due to hanging a 10' plow on it).

I agree, what you are asking is possible but it's a ton of work to do. If you can't get taller springs than I guess that's your only option to try to level your truck if it has 1 ton springs in the back... Sounds like you need a bigger truck!

You can add spacers to the coils to achieve a "taller" coil, I wouldn't recommend fabricating your own suspension setup, even part of it, as you may never be able to get the truck aligned.

I fully agree that I need a bigger truck but working on a extremely tight budget makes that hard. If I could id buy my brothers 94 f350turbo idi but sense I have only 200 to work with.

You could try to find some 2wd f250 springs to help level it.

What you're thinking of doing will work, if it's done properly - no shortcuts or "good enough" B.S. Don't see why it wouldn't work if everything's done right.
Lifting isn't normally done that way and may present a few problems (like alignment like fltdriver said) but anything's possible.
Gonna be a lot of extra work but if the budget for premade factory stuff isn't there, you'll just have to get dirty.
Maybe try to keep "putting it back the way it was" in mind while you're designing things just in case it doesn't work as well as you hope.
I'd like to see a pic when you're done if you go ahead (so I guess you'll have to keep everything neat and nicely finished off)

I've decided to go for it plus I have some frame rail fixing to do. I just have a lot of other bs to mess wit before I get to the truck but whenever I get to it I'll make a new thread about it.
