Default '92F150 Intermittent starting

Need help here. A few months back my old truck decided that once in a blue moon it would not turn over. Ignition turn would produce all normal dash lighting and battery is fine. Obviously the signal is not getting to the starter. I can roll it and pop the clutch to start it on these stubborn occassions as long as I'm on a hill. I have by-passed the clutch switch and replaced the ignition switch but neither are the problem as it did it again this week. No rhyme or reason as to when it won't start. I'm no mechanic but thinking maybe solenoid? Any help would be appreciated. This has been a good old truck and has 170k+ mileage.

You could have a dead spot on the starter's armature. This creates a spot where the starter will not move from, some times the Bendix bouncing in and out will move the arm enough to crank, at least on chevies and toyatas.
