Default Leather Steering Wheel

Good source for replacement steering wheel?

I have a 1995 F-150 XLT with the leather cruise control steering wheel with airbag. I've been to a few local salvage yards and had no luck finding one in good condition. I got a quote from an automotive upholstery shop to recover the wheel and they wanted $600- $800 for the job. I've seen some on ebay, but I'm hesitant, because I can't feel the leather to tell if it's in good condition and pictures don't always show everything.

This is the steering wheel I have: https://photos.app.goo.gl/mvR4QMRwaYuVRhva7

I've got a buddy here in Oregon selling one for $100 plus shipping - it doesn't have the factory leather cover but the wheel is in really good shape. I almost bought it just to have a spare.

If it is just the leather cover that needs replacing, get yourself a wheelskin - I just put one on my wheel and it is awesome:

LMC has one on a diagram, but I can't tell if it's the correct one that supports cruise control and the airbag. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fd/full.aspx?Page=57
It's also a bit pricey.

@BLDTruth That one looks decent. Do you have any pictures of it cleaned up?

In case anyone was wondering, the steering wheel from LMR.com won't work. See correspondence from the vendor below:

Hi Doug,

While this steering wheel appears similar to yours, the horn buttons attach differently and the hub itself is shaped different due to your truck steering column. They do not interchange, unfortunately. The only option we currently have at this time is a WheelSkins brand leather cover you sew over the existing wheel. I've included a link below. If you have any other questions, let us know We appreciate it!

Question: I have a 1995 F150 XLT 5.0L truck. I want to purchase this steering wheel. Can you please confirm it will swap with mine? I have cruise control and air bag. https://lmr.com/item/LRS-3600R/musta...eather-1990-93

Any local upholsterer should be able to re-cover a steering wheel with leather. But if you want to install a later wheel with nice leather & different connectors, it's not hard. Either re-shape your truck's steering column shaft to fit the wheel's hub (probably VERY difficult); or re-shape the wheel's hub to fit the shaft (not easy, but do-able); or swap in the column with its matching wheel (easier than it sounds). Then splice the mating connector onto your dash harness (only ~4 wires are required). It's also a GREAT way to add features, like illuminated wheel buttons, and wheel-mounted radio buttons. I've done it to a few vehicles now, and they all work very reliably.
