Question Just an idea...

So i have my 1990 xlt lariat 5.0L auto 2wd, and i was browsin craigslist for a 4x4 and i found a $650 1994 I6 auto 4x4 for parts because its "dangerous to drive" it needs brake lines, shoes, pads, and drums. It has new hubs and its complete with 114000 miles, minor rust. I was thinking of converting mine to 4x4 with parts from that truck or just get that one and fix it up. Only $650 and he'll probably go to 550 but idk, Suggestions?

Easier to fix the '94. Cheaper also. That's what I would do.

How is it easier or cheaper? It's basically the same truck, except more wear items on the 4x4.

You think swapping axles transmissions and engines is easier then doing a full brake job? Even if he had to replace every line it would be easier.

I agree basically the same truck and frame and everything but when you get down to it how practical is it really to make a 2x4 into a 4x4?

Especially when the 4x4 has so little wrong with it?

I guess what I am saying if he has the money to throw away do it!!! If not then don't. He asked us what we thought I told him simple as that.

I would think for $250-$300 you could easily fix the entire braking system and have yourself a nice little 4wd pickup for $8-900.

Didn't even think of that, he said "or fix it" also which is the part I focused on. So it would be the same to fix either one.
