Thanks for the info, Martin.

While I was at the Ford dealership I asked a mechanic what was their recommendation for the weight of the oil for my truck. He said it was changed to 5-20. I said I use 10-30 coventional and he said that's fine since I drive a lot of highway miles but to just let the truck warm up a little before I take off. He said the problem was and is people were not letting their trucks warm up and that was causing problems when they were only going a few miles and shutting down. I'll switch to 5-20 next time to see if I notice any difference in starting or running. I would have never guessed 5-20.

Awesome! I will be taking a look to see if that's the issue.

Anyone know where I can get a small diameter replacement hose for the blend door actuator?

Most auto parts houses carry such items. The Inside Diameter is 5/32nds.

Well, I got the vacuum hose that broke fixed but my A/C still blows (ice cold) through the defrost vent whenever my tach is above 2000 rpm. Kind of sucks because the air works great otherwise. Any suggestions?

Man, this truck is a blast to drive. My wife has a nice 2010 full size SUV and whenever we go anywhere together we take the F150.

I'm not going to mess with the tranny 1/2 accumulator spring - it just sounds like more than I want to do on my own. Probably easy enough, but I've never messed with a transmission and at this point I just don't feel comfortable with it.

The truck just turned over 130K miles. I already mentioned the tune up I did. The only other thing I KNOW I'm going to do is replace the ignition coil with an after market one. I increased the gap from what the old plugs were (around 42 to 55 or 56) and I think the old IC is just struggling a little - just a suspicion I have. It's a relatively cheap upgrade so why not. I'm going to start a new post to see what others did or wish they would have done at around 130K. I was going to ask here in this thread but figured I should start a new one.

On the ac, still just a leak somewhere in the system. Buy a pump and gauge at HF and check line by line, you'll find it. The vacuum operated egr and thermactors take a lot to run so it doesn't take a big leak to send fan to defrost.

Nice truck. I like that color. I recently picked up a 94 5.8 4.4 myself and love driving it.

I am curious though, why was it recommended to either use a MC PCV valve or nothing? What's wrong with others?

(Don't mean to hijack just trying to understand someone's recommendation to you)

If a pcv is not manufactured exact it can cause drivability problems. It doesn't take much difference, many times aftermarket units try to cover too many applications with one valve.
