Default Inside door handle and cable

Hi all
I need to replace the cable in the door that actuates the latch when I pull the handle (which I broke off).
Must be streched out. Anyone know how tuff this is or have any experience with doing it?
Thanks in advance!
Tom

hey i just did mine last week. my problem wasn't a stretched cable though. where your handle mounts the sheet metal is very thin and will tear, so when you pull on the handle it just moves your mounting plate instead of opening the door. i just made a plate to go over the existing holes, welded it, and remounted the handle. works perfect now.

the plate your actuating mechanism is attached to. pull that off and the clip your bolt goes to see if you have a tear

Same thing happened to me on my 95. First, I broke the plastic handle, so bought a new one from ford, then The thin metal broke in the cold. Its a bummer rolling down the window to open the door haha. I am going to try some of these suggestions from you guys. Of course it had to be the drivers side that broke, passenger side works good.

haha yeah mine was the driver side to. i thought having to roll down the window to get out was pretty funny, especially when i'd pull up to work. i think the washer idea is good but mine was so bad i had to make a plate to go over all the old holes because mine was torn so bad.
