I found the wheels and tires I want but what size?
So, I found the wheels I want 5x5.5 bolt pattern and 15x8. I found the tire I want but I'm not sure what size to get? I'm not too clear on how tire sizes are labeled either so a little help would be awesome. A tire shop is trying to tell me it's $185 per tire and they are a he'll of a lot cheaper on tirerack. Anyway what is a moderate size?

Recommended tire size for that wheel on tire rack is 235/75r15, which is stock on my truck with 7.5" rims. I have read people put a 12.5" section width on an 8" rim, but that would be huge.... I'll let someone with more experience give a better opinion... but I would suggest getting the tire size from the tire shop and tell them you want to compare prices. if you order tires online, you will still need to get them mounted, so the tire shop will still make their money. last time I got tires, I got them from discount tire direct and had them mounted for $50, and that still saved me money. you can even get an online price and see if they will match it. in my experience tire shops are often quite flexible with their pricing.... of maybe I've just got a great shop in town.

is your truck at a stock height? if so i'd get 31(diameter)x10.50(width)x15(rim)
i aint real familiar with the 285x70x15 type of measurement so i dont really know what those are but i'd say it has somthin to do with the same things, i think the 70 might be the sidewall but idk.

If you are 4 wheel drive you can run up to a 33x12.50x15 stock, if you are a 2 wheel drive you can run up to a 31x10.50x15.first number is diameter, second is width, and third is rim diameter.

metric sizing goes as such (example stock tire size)
235 / 75 / 15
tire width (mm) / sidewall height (as a percentage of tire width) / rim diameter in inches

good converter above.

It's stock at the moment but I'm lowering it 3 in the front and 5 in the back soon. I'm thinking the 275/60R15, any thoughts?
