Innova Code Reader for 81-95 Fords
I picked up the digital code reader for thirty bucks. Best investment for my 95 f150 5.0 4x4. Its had a CEL on since i got it but still runs and drives like a champ. But i did the koeo codes and got some codes. Then ran the KOER codes during the engine id test it popped up as a 6cyl. My first thought was something with the computer. Got one for a 5.0 from the local salvage yard for 35 bucks. Swapped the computers and ran the KOEO codes. Code 111 system pass now. Did the KOER codes and still shows as a 6cyl. Any ideas on why this would happen?

Ok, admittedly I have not read all 25 pages of this. I found the 'house' shaped EEC, no problem, I am puzzled as to where the Self Test Input is. . . . There is a small plug next to the EEC but has two wires connected to it.
If I understand correctly, the jumper runs from the position indicated in the diagram on the 'house plug' to the STI - is the small plug with two wires the STI? Which wire do I run the jumper to?
Thanks!

Ok thanks, found it, didn't realize it was apart of the EEC cluster.
Here is what I have with the check engine light flashes. KOEO
One brief/ dim flash followed by a 13 and a 12. (One flash -pause- 3 flashes then one flash -pause- 2 flashes).
Is the first dim flash just a 'start up' flash?
Where can I cross reference these codes?
Another question, the Check Engine light came on two days ago after pulling a full trailer for 200 miles and coincided with a transmission slip/ lack of response from accelerating. The light went out and came back a couple more times during similar driving conditions. The light has NOT come back on since then.
Do the codes stay stored in the memory as long as the battery is not disconnected?
Thanks!

paint sucks
I don't remember the exact steps to retrieve trouble codes, but I know Autozone sells OBD1 scanners for around $30. I ordered mine from Amazon for $25 and it's exactly the same as what Autozone sells. It comes with a booklet that explains everything there is to know about retrieving codes. Works great and has helped me pinpoint a lot of issues with my truck.
