To answer your other questions, yes, the 4.9, 5.0, and 5.8 all used the exact same transmissions.

And if you are set on the 6, look for one with 3.55 gears (that would be code 19 for 3.55 open, or code H9 for 3.55 Limited Slip). Mine has 3.08s and I'm one of the slowest things on the road. I think the gears would really wake it up and give it the infusion of pep that it needs to get moving. It's as quick with 2000+ pounds being towed/hauled as it is empty lol
a higher gear ratio would do the oppositte it would actually slow you down even more. on my old dodge i had 4.10 and with it floored my 318 couldnt get past 80 unless it was downhill

It'll take the top end down but help the acceleration. I need acceleration help. I'll take the hit on the 90mph top end to get it moving faster

Door jamb sticker. 18 and H8 are 3.08 and 3.08LS, 19 and H9 are 3.55 and 3.55LS. Those are just the codes I know. You can also crawl under your truck and there's a tag on the diff cover. It'll have on there somewhere on the tag a part that says 3 55 or 3L55 (the L is for limited slip)

I just use 3.55 as an example

IF you stay on stock tires they should be alright to pull with. If you're on 31s or larger they aren't too good. I've ot 31s and 3.08s but she'll still pull pretty well

Perfectly tuned! It will, however pull your ex wifes mobile home right off the cinder blocks and down the street w/o a trailer...lol
