Not to jack your thread op but I've been looking into this as well. My question is, I have a very low mile '96 (63,000 original miles) and I don't want to throw the odometer off by switching clusters. Does the computer keep track of the miles or the odometer itself? Would it be possible to take my odometer out of my cluster and put it in a new one to keep my mileage correct?

You have to take clusters apart and swap speedometers I believe. Or swap the odometers. I can't remember now... But I know I kept my same mileage.

Keep your speedometer. Follow the link I posted on page one. It's very straight forward and self explanatory.

I also am interested in a tach. Must I find a 92 at a junk yard identical with my truck, ie engine size, 2wd, etc? Sorry if this is a real beginners question, but that's what I am.

I think you can do a 92/93, any gas engine, any trans.
