1996 AOD Transmission Slipping ?
Help!
I have a 96 XLT, 5.0L, 4spd AOD with 156K on the odometer.
It sometimes shudders acts like it has no power (slipping in first ?) from a dead start.
I have been to AMCO transmission three times. Each time they've come
back with the transmission's fine, not showing any codes.
Anyone else run into this ?
Thanks

first, you probably have an E4OD. got a O/D button on the end of the gear shifter? did you have them test drive it? give me a little bit and i'll grab my trans manuals out of the garage and i'll get you some advice

Yes, it's an E4OD.
On each visit it was road tested and the technican had it hooked up to a portable diagnostic computer.
Once it starts rolling it seems to shift fine thru he remaining gears.

does it take off right when you pull it down into first gear manually

Tried your suggestion today. It does not matter if it is in drive or first gear position. Shudders in both positions.
I also tried starting from a dead stop in second. It did not shutter. It was like who needs a first gear. Didn't protest at all. Just took off.
I'm thinking first gear is going.
