Question How to get that deep throttle sounding exhaust?

Alright I can't stand it anymore I need some rumble. I want to buy a cherrybomb extreme to fix up my exhaust. I already know how much the cherrybomb will cost. But how much will all the rest of it cost? Should I have the catalytic converter gutted or just removed? Does cutting off your cat get you better mpg? I also would like to move the exhaust pipe where it's in front of the rear tire.

Like this

I know that removing the catalytic converter will make it smell like gas. Will relocating the exhaust so close to the door make it worse? I would like to reuse as much of the original exhaust pipe as I can. Because I need to keep the cost down as much as possible.

I also found a leveling kit for fifty dollars after I install it. Will I have to have the truck realined?

Thanks

Hollow just the engine side cat and put a magnaflow on it. Hollowing the front cat gives the same affect as piping a bike and the exhaust wont stink.

I used to have my exhaust like the picture with one cat removed and a flow master and wasn't happy. If u really want sound you can do what I did long tube headers with cherry bomb glass packs no cat and it has turn downs before the front gas tank. Every1 turns there head when I hit the gas

I got longtubes, a 2.5" y-pipe into a single 3" flowmaster, no cats, dumped at the rear end, and it's loud as HELL. I actually want to quiet it down a little bit

if you do put the leveling kit on, you will have to realign the front end. im not sure how much it costs to get it done. check around your local shops you might even get them to put it on for u

I have a 2wd 4.9 inline six I'm glad you brought that up. Dose a 4.9 have a horse power rateing? Like an 302 5.0 V8.

first if your looking for a deep V8 growl, you are never going to get that with a 4.9l, second the 4.9l is NOT a horse power motor, it is a torque motor, it is designed to produce big torque at low rpms, for pulling and hauling. and the life expectancy of a tortoise.

The only thing close to a deep V8 growl on a 4.9L would be to remove the cats, straight pipe back to dual flow masters with a side exit. A friend of mine has this on her truck and it sounds mean, but I would have at least installed an X pipe .

This truck sounds awesome revving the engine, but of course its not emissions legal.

Thirdly (going off ftn) 302 5.0 v8 does NOT mean that it has 302 hp, if I understand your question. 5.0 and 302 both are referring to the engines displacement (5 liters or 302 cubic inches).

What you're looking for is 4.9 liter or 300 cubic inches. Which I think puts out about 170 hp
