My 4.9L (short bed&cab) can make a bit more than 250 miles with one full 16-gallon tank, if I maintain about 55-60 mph on a highway.

lol not very far...9mph is pretty bad and sounds like you need some help...

my 4.9L gets 22-24mpg and I have a 18gallon and 19gallon tanks...

I get a little over 400miles per tank..so I can get 800miles on both...

but at 9mpg you'll be lucky to break 200miles per tank...

You ought to be able to make 200 miles easily. At 9mpg and two 15 gal tanks(lowest possible) you should get 270 miles. But your really do need some help if you only get 9mpg. Average is around 12/13 with some heavily modded trucks getting 25+ like dr bowtie.

One of the cheapest/easiest thing you can do is use Seafoam on your engine.

And here is a thread all about improving mpg

you just need some good low buck mods...

advancing the cam would help you a ton but the darn gears are 80.00 and the time to do it...thats not low buck either...

boy do i feel better about my gas mileage now... i only use my front tank (16 gallon i believe) and i can get a little over 200 miles out of it but ive never put 13.5 gallons in it at a time either

also i get 15ish mpg after my dual exhaust install, it wasnt the cheapest mod but i picked up 1.5 mpg so it will pay for itself eventually

I just went 227 miles on my first tank, and had to fill it up with 16 gallons. If the rear tank is also a 16 gallon (which I'm not sure of) then I should be able to go at least 400 miles on two tanks.
