Daytime running light problems
Hello...just joined and introduced myself on the 'introduction' forum.
I have a 92 F150 with the mandatory Canadian 'daytime running lights'.
Problem: The daytime running lights quit and all checks pointed to the DRL module situated in front of the drivers side rad support.
Upon installing a new module the headlights immediately came on even with the ignition turned off and all switches off.
A wiring schematic confirmed all wires checked out ...voltage wise.
Thinking that it might be a faulty 'new' module i installed another of the same brand and supplier and it too does the same thing.
Has anyone ever come across this?
I know from working on vehicles that it possible to get two 'bad' electrical components in a row..especially of the same brand / supplier.
All fuses check out. The only way to make the lights go out is to disconnect the module or pull the 'hot' fuse in the distribution box under the hood. Disconnecting the 'ignition feed' fuse does nothing.
Thanks and good to be aboard..regards...john

Truck is fixed. After pondering over the wiring schematic for hours on end, i came to the conclusion that it has to be the module at fault.
Borrowed the module from my buddys F150 and problem solved.
Contacted Dorman and advised them of the two dead modules.
Their tech support is great.
