Dual Tank Problems
I have a 1992 4.9 single cab flareside thats got a few fuel problems. For one it is stuck on the front tank and will not switch to the rear at all. The rear is full of gas, when I move the switch on the dash absolutely nothing happens no sounds no change on fuel gauge nothing. The front tank also always shows empty which Im sure is the sender float. Anyways my main question is how can I test to see if the selector valve on the frame is bad vs the switch on the dash vs just throwing parts at it. I also have an issue where if I start it without letting it prime for a few seconds it will spit and sputter until I give it gas.

My selector valve was letting gas go into the rear tank on my 85. The pump in the rear tank was toast so I removed the selector valve and also removed the canister filter. I replaced the canister with 2 gas filters from newer fords. I then removed the selector valve and bent over the rear tank lines and taped them off. I then connected the lines from the front tank directly to the 2 new filters. Now i need to know if anyone can tell me which wires that were on the selector valve plug I need to tie together so my fuel gauge will work again?????
