Unhappy Holy crap!

I just posted a thread about a funny noise coming from my running gear. I decided after some advice to check the u joints. I started with the one joining my tranny to the drive line. My grease gun got stuck on the zerk as usual, when I started pulling to get it off the whole drive line moved. After some pushing and pulling i found I could move the back end of the tranny back and forth 6 inches. Which includes pivoting the motor as well. I just bought this truck for a great deal, now I know why. Not sure how all of the mounts would be fouled up like that!

well the good thing is that you caught it in time instead of your engine trying to escape in the middle of the freeway. to replace the trans mount you just need to jack the transmission up enough to slip the old one out and put the new one in the engine mounts are the annoying part but still same deal un do one at a time jack it on the side of the oil pan bolts and swap them out.
it should be less then 150 bucks tops for the long lasting mounts.

Glad you found the problem. I actually should have thought about the mounts to begin with since I had the same issue like 5 years ago

Good catch on finding the problem. Make sure you go back and give the person who gave you the good advise a rep point.

Oh gawd. Would this explain why my truck shifts into reverse horribly hard? Ive got both engine mounts and tranny mount in my passenger seat, just trying to find time to replace.
