High idle problem finally solved
I've been reading quite a bit on this forum on how to repair this new-to-me 92 F150 for about 2 months. The other day it decided to stop idling. This is a problem in the land of $3.50/gal gas.
After asking several people who said that there was no way it could be the TPS, I replaced the TPS last night. That solved it for me. It seems that the wires were pulling out of the sensor causing the readings to be off the chart.
New unit in and now she idles nicely. The bonus is that she starts much better also since it isn't trying to go full throttle from the start. The downside is that I saw how dirty the throttle body was, now I have to clean that.
Protip: When reinstalling the throttle body, put some anti-seize on the bolts. They didn't want to come out when I started. Now, I don't think I'll have an issue.
