Here is your warning!
Removing the oil pan from a 95 F150 5.0 is a pain in the a-- ! Cannot wait to finish this job! I paid my ford dealership to replace my oil pan gasket when was leaking a year or so ago and instead of doing it correctly they cut the gasket so they could fish it through and then place it in. Been slowly leaking this whole time and now gushing oil. So taking the job on myself.

Just now found the problem. Has been over a year prob going on 2 years. Also dealership is an hour away, truck would of never made it as fast as it was dumping oil.

Could it be the rear main seal instead of the oil pan?
|
It was replaced at same time so I'm praying is not that, and pretty positive is oil pan bc was coming from front of motor around seams of oil pan.

Lousy news and shame on the dealership for doing a hack job. I totally understand why you're going to replace yourself but maybe at least give them a call and let them know what a terrible job they did? Might give you some goodwill with them if you need to take it back for a larger issue.

I appreciate your warning, not that I would attempt doing it myself. My oil pan needs replacing. Keep us posted on the outcome. I hope it's 100% successful.

Did you lift the motor some so that you have more room?
|
Thanks Glenn, I FINALLY got it out, wasn't easy. Yes Forrest411, raised motor and transmission together, removed cross member from under transmission and totally removed exhaust, and then unbolt oil pump before finally can pull out.

How would they have replaced the rear main seal if they did not remove the oil pan.. cutting the gasket is a way of not having to remove the pan... just drop it down..I was able to fish a complete gasket down into the pan under the pick-up and out the other side ...
