What is the pipe called and where can i get a new one? the pipe left of the top heater hose with a sensor screwed into it by the alt bracket. the pipe screws into the side of the water outlet housing/ thermostat housing. hooks to one of the heater hoses.

I'm not sure of the exact technical name for it, but it's the heater bypass tube. It doesn't bypass the heater, it bypasses the coolant to the heater. I'm not sure where to get it other than the dealer, or you may be able to find a specialty auto parts store that can get it. The major stores like AutoZone or Advance probably can't get it, but you can see. There's a specialty store around here called Triangle that can get a lot of odd parts. A thermostat housing is a non-wearable part, but they had one on the shelf for my Chevy. It wasn't one of those generic ones either, it was year specific with two threaded holes for a sensor and EGR vacuum control switch.

YEs, I had to order it from the dealer. before you do measure the pipe diameter. I ordered the wrong size and had make an adapter to the smaller size. the sensor is a the water temp sensor. after i took it off I coould read the ford number on the switch to match it up with a new one.

I also had to order the part from the dealer. It was part# e5tz-18599-c for a 94 4.9L.

Sorry for doing a Lazarus on this thread but...

Will this part # be OK for an '88 F150 w/ inline six?
Every source I see says E5TZ-18599-A but I don't see the difference, if any.
