That might cost you $5 or so to do. Am I missing something?
I had given them a go with carburetor cleaner - I will try with something stronger before giving up

First attempt at lapping valves this weekend. Pretty pleased with how they turned out but wondering if I should go a couple more rounds with a finer compound to get more of a polished look. The valves seem to sit fine and I can spin them in their seats without resistance.

Doing this and watching porting and polishing videos makes me want to brake out the dremel and go to town on these things but I don't really know if I am that committed yet.

I'm following your progress on these as I have a couple of sets of these. I'd like to run a pair on my '92 F150 and my '84 Mustang.

Don't overthink it. as long as they're smooth, clean mating surfaces that will make a good seal when closed, you're good to go.

Yeah I agree. I could easily see myself spending 30+ more hours on these things making them look pretty...and it won't make much/any difference in my application. New springs and keepers are en route, and that will be that. Any suggestions for (1) valve guide lubricant, if any, and (2) type of grease to hold the keepers in place during spring install?

Next phase is to figure out which headers will work.

I see you're in Plano. I've got a set of P heads I can bring you next week, I'm in Dallas weekly. PM if interested.

It's been a while since I've been around, what happened to the 351w 460 swap?

Flipped them both. I regret letting the 351w go a lot more than the 460, but someone made me an offer I could not refuse.

Springs and keepers arrived. It's about 120 degrees in my garage...otherwise they would be assembled already.

I may be interested depending upon condition & price. I have a pair of gt40p's and a single NIB GT40 head in the garage along with the supporting intakes. These are earmarked for the stang so I wouldn't mind having another pair for the truck, it could use a little more pep.. I'll send a PM.

Old thread, But BLDTruth, how did the build go? I’m new to the site, just payed my subscription fee. I noticed we’re in the same town, and I just picked up a set of GT40P heads for my 93 F150, with 5.0.
I found this thread while looking for info on headers to use.
so, did you use the GT40P heads, stay with stock cam, go with 1.7 rockers, what headers did you use?

thanks
