It has a probe that sits against the radiator and an temperature adjustment screw on the control box to turn the fans on. I took the cap off my radiator, stuck in a food thermometer and set the adjustment **** to cut on at 195 and off at 180. Took only as long as it took the t-stat to open and circulate water to get an accurate temp reading. Put the cap back on and haven't had to make any adjustments since.

I went to Autozone last night and got the controller you mentioned. My question is this. Does this thing have a relay built-in? The specs on the fan say 50AMPs and the package mentions up to 30AMPs. I got a $10 relay that has huge copper terminals that is rated for 70AMPs. So I want to use that. Is there a way to use the controller to trip my relay?

yes.... you can read the instructions of the switch you have or look at my E-Fan thread... most all of the switched are set up the same way... there is a trigger wire and thats the wire you use to trigger the relay

Okay, Now I have been wondering this a while.
If the fan only comes on when the coolant temp gets hot, There is minimal air flow under the hood. Shouldn't we be worried for other stuff baking in the heat?
The stock setup always has air flowing. I just don't want to bake the electronics or the vacuum hoses or anything else that is not water cooled.

I noticed people in those posts mentioning the Relay or the controller getting hot. I think I will glue on a cpu heatsink to the relay, but will the controller get hot as well? I will have it all mounted in the same place as in those pics above the wiring diagram. So not in direct air flow from the grill.
