Fuel Pump Issue
I've got a 1994 F150, dual tank, 4.9 straight 6, steel tanks
My rear tank pump does not run The front pump runs fine I have tested it in the following manner 12V on both sides of the fuse 12V on both sides of the tank selector switch 6.7V at both pump connectors (disconnected) I plugged the rear pump connector into the front pump and it ran fine I figure since both connections will run the front pump the rear pump is dead but worry about the 6.7V reading I did see earlier posts about "ghost voltage" being measured if the pump is not connected which is how I took my measurements Am I buying a new rear pump? Or should I perform additional tests? |
I'd say your rear pump is deceased. Seems like they are usually the first to fail, either the distance makes life harder, or the wide shallow tank offers less cooling, than the narrow deep front one.
