Default Fuel Problems- 1994 F150

I have a 1994 F150 5.0 and I'm having starting issues. It is taking way too long to start and most times I have to start it on the second time cranking over. I read something a while back about the fuel pressure building up after turning the key on and off multiple times which I know that pump is working cause I can hear it every time I do that, any ways I turned the key on and off 5 times and it fired right up. I tried to start it by not doing that and it wouldn't start until I tried the second time like before and it started. What could this be? Fuel pressure regulator?

If it is starting on the second try next time turn key on count to five then try to start (give the pump time to prime/pressurize the line) could also be a weak/slow starting pump. Have you done a pressure check on the fuel rail? I think it should be 40 to 45 psi with engine running if it is low pressure regulator or fuel pump could be the problem.

Hope this helps

Your truck runs between 30 to 45 psi. Less than 30 she don't run... not well anyway.
A fuel pressure gauge would be a good thing to use before you buy any parts.
Turn the key to "on" and you should have about 42 to 45 psi. Start it up (idling) that should drop to 38 to 40 and climb back up to max pressure as you open the throttle.
All that said, when was the last time you changed your filter ?

How exactly do I test the fuel pressure? My filter is only about a month old

Valve on the fuel rail looks like a bicycle tire valve stem.
