Default How to drop the spare tire?

I have a 1991 ford f150, i just purchased it and it does not have an owners manual. I have ordered a new one, but i was wondering if anyone has any tips to make it easier.

The best tip I can give is once you have it removed figure out a way to keep it in your bed so you don't have to remove it from under the truck on the side of a road ever again.

Even in Texas mine is rusted solid. i could however turn the bolt with the loop at the rear just enough to make it pop through the the big part of the keyhole looking hole

I think if I ever have a flat, I'll try to make it home or stop at a tire shop .

Default Spare

I agree with BldTruth, once you get it out from under there, I would keep it out. I recently had to do a fuel tank replacement and I spent as much time getting that spare out from under the bed, as I did removing the bed. Then you think back, what if I needed this spare on a roadside. I would never have got it out.

Now that the new tank is in and the bed back in place, The spare is mounted vertical to the side of the bed.

Regards

I get what everybody's saying but I just cleaned everything up and greased all the threads so I can keep my spare out of the way and use the whole bed.
I only have the damn thing for emergencies anyway and so far (knock wood) I've never had to use it.
But if I do I know it'll come out of there just like a new truck. Took almost a whole day to get everything nice though. If I never get a flat in the middle of nowhere I will have wasted all that time.
