Fuel Gauge Not Working

Fuel Gauge Not Working
I have a 1987 F-150 4x4 with 302 and auto trans. The fuel gauge reads above full no matter what amount of gas is in it. I bought the truck this way and would like to fix it. Is there anybody knowing what might cause this? I was able to remove the hook up for the sending unit and the plug was in good looking shape. I searched the forum but can not find answers to this.

If you can get at that plug you can take it apart and try to determine if its in the tank or in the wiring and dash thats the problem. Try to read across the terminals with a meter and see if the tank sender is good or open circuit. You should be able to do the same on the other connector too. Then at least you will know if the tank needs to come down or not.

She's a standard shift
sort of the same issue
My gauge reads above full until I get to about a 1/2 tank of fuel. As it comes down, the gauge bouces around quite alot until it settles to below 1/2 tank. It was this way when I bought the truck and would like to fix it. I have duel tanks and it does it no matter which tank I am running off of.

I have a 94 F150. The fuel gauge reads empty for the front tank no matter how much gas is in it. The rear tank works fine.
Is this an easy fix?

My 93's gauge would read accuratly for a little while then around quater tank just drop. But while putting my new clutch in I realized I had a slow fuel tank leak, nothing much to make my gauge act as sparatic as it was but since I was already working on it i decided to drop the tank and put a new one in, to save time in the future. When i pulled the fuel pump the float was really gross looking, I cleaned it all up aswell as cleaning the connection with electrical cleaner and re electrical greasing it. I am hoping that this will solve my problems, I will repost when the truck is back on the road with my results.
