Fuel filter questions

filters are cheap and pretty easy to replace, so you could do one before and after if you want or just wait till you replace the pump.

you should be good to go then also you should know that depending on the brand of filter already on there, there may not be enough room to fit your tool in the fitting. if its motorcraft it shouldnt do that though. if its some off brand filter there is a chance you may have to saw/grind the tool down a little bit to get it to fit in there. i had to do that.

Pump manufacturers, Airtex in particular, are becoming quite the pain in the rear for doing fuel pump warranties. Usually the customer doesn't see it on their end but dealing with it from the jobber stand point, they're getting really particular about warranty stuff. More specifically, did the customer follow their steps when changing in their part. If not, they'll kick back the part.
It's the same reason every one says you have to change the accumulator and orifice tube out when doing A/C jobs.

Replace them both at the same time. When you drop the side (front) tank to install the new pump, you will have much greater access to the filter on the side rail.
