Unhappy Tensioner causing belt wear again

Been almost a month running yet another new tensioner and finally the right belt and it's been fine. This morning noticed a belt squeak when started up. Got to front of property hooked on a trailer and by time got to house belt stopped squeaking and it sounded like it was shredding belt and sure enough tensioner is out pushing hard against back of belt and edge of belt was getting torn looking. 1989 F150 with 300 ci 6.
This is gettin old........

Well the belt shredded again. Had a longer belt so got it on just to finish moving trailer to back of property so I was out of driveway. With that belt the tensioner runs so close to end of travel the belt doesn't last long. But then again the proper belt didn't last long either. These Dayco tensioners seem to sit close to the back edge of the belt anyhow and start creeping closer until they're literally pushing the belt out. With the shorter belt it wouldn't go as far so the tensioner rode up on it shredding the belt. With the longer one it just eventually pushes it off the power steering pulley and if it doesn't throw it then it shreds it. Depending on how I look at the pulleys it appears either everything is pretty much in line except the tensioner or the power steering and alternator are in line with each other but perhaps 1/8" or less further in towards the block than the other pulleys and the tensioner is still over 1/8" further out than I'm comfortable with.
