Default Front tank overflow when running on rear tank question.

So form what I've read this is either a bad check valve or a bad "dual function reservoir". my question is how do I know which setup my truck has? 92 4.9 ext cab 2wd.

I had this happen about 10 years ago in my old truck (1996.) When I filled up both tanks, I'd run the front tank to 1/2, then switch the rear, run that dry, and end up with 3/4 tank in the front. What they figured out was that the front fuel pump had failed.

Had the same issue as OP, above is exactly what I did because it wasn't worth the $$$$ to fix it.

About a month ago when I bought the truck I had been just running on the front tank but then one day it wouldn't start so I flipped the switch and it started right up in the rear tank. That's when the front one started overflowing but if it keeps transferring from rear to front then that's what I'll do.

Well.. your a good man tech... the point trying to make is I like have both tanks operable. That way if one goes down you still have the other until you get a chance to fix it.
