Different front/rear gears...which ones should I swap to?
Bought my truck off a dude who did NOT disclose that the front gears are 3.55 and the rear 4.10, which screws me for 4wd unless I'm spinning tires in the mud/snow.
My questions are as follows...
* If i want to swap out the 3.55 gears to 4.10 in the front to match it with the rear, will they fit in the casing or will I have to buy a new, bigger casing to fit them?
* Should I say screw it and switch the rear back to 3.55? I'm not pulling heavy loads and only go off-roading a few times a year, so the 4.10s aren't exactly necessary.
Basically, what's the cheapest/easiest fix here, cause I just wasted some big cash on this already. See my Problem after Problem thread for the details.
And I just bought new 35s, so I'm not putting smaller tires on the front to compensate the offset.

You have 35's. This is a no-brainer. 4:11's in the front.
Best way to do it might just be to find a compatible front end with the gears you want from a local yard. Or craigslist. I wish you lived close to me this would be easy:

It wouldn't take more than a day if you knew what you were doing and had the appropriate tools and space to do it. Dare I ask how much it cost to put the new gears in the front the first time?

Well... that ain't gonna happen. What I could do though....if he were to bring me 200 US and the 3:55's, I could do that. If it helps out. I can always find a use for the 3:55's or just sell them off or something. Mr Google says it's a 5 1/2 hour drive though so it's probably not worth it.
