FRONT brake line replacement

Hey guys,

Bought an old rusty 96 f150 4x4 with 144k miles for 700 bucks. Well i cant pick it up until i replace the brake line that is spitting fluid EVERYWHERE. It is leaking right where the steel line meets the rubber brake hose. was wondering if someone could let me know how to replace it. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately there isn't much more I can say than remove the old line, and put a new one on. you may have to make your own line, or perhaps buy a preformed one.

so just cut the line near where the line meets hose and then by the master cylinder?

Easiest way if your planning on replacing the whole line, just cut it at the fitting, Remove the fitting, remove the retainer clip, and go from there. In time they break no matter what, as when I replaced my front calipers and hoses one side came off easy and the other snapped inside the fitting.

yep i would have to agree with black07, i had a leak in the line same place your talking about on my drivers side. couldnt save the line because of rust issues. your best plan is to just replace the lines as ther going to rust and brake, they just do.
